|
Ardnamurchan (Gaelic: Àird nam Murchan: headland of the great seas) – a stunning and remote part of the British mainland that is home to its most westerly point, Corrachadh Mòr. It is the peninsula that extends westwards from the village of Salen all the way out to Ardnamurchan Point and its famous lighthouse. Its rocky northern coastline, bounded at the East and West by the lovely beaches of Ardtoe and Sanna Bay is designated as a National Scenic Area because of its outstanding scenery and landscape features. Its southern edge, makes up the north shore of Loch Sunart which, at 19 miles long, is the longest sea loch in the Highlands.
